What is a conversational AI data analyst?
It is a way to explore business data by asking questions in ordinary language. DataNova returns an answer and results you can inspect, then lets you continue the conversation with follow-up questions.
How does Nova use our business rules and KPI definitions?
Nova uses an MCP server to query governed semantic models. The models provide your configured measures, relationships and business definitions, giving the analyst context beyond raw data. We agree and prepare those definitions with you. AI can still misinterpret a question or produce an incorrect answer, so check the supporting figures before acting.
Can I try the analyst with an Excel file?
Yes. Spreadsheet upload, reporting and the AI analyst are part of the standard DataNova experience. Start a 30 day platform trial, upload a suitable workbook and explore the processed data. How is this different from creating a visual?
The analyst supports a conversation about your data. The AI visual creator turns a request into a chart or report view you can refine. Use the analyst to investigate a question and the visual creator to present the comparison clearly.
Can it analyse all our systems immediately?
The analyst needs the relevant data to be available in the workspace. Source permissions, mapping and refresh requirements must be agreed for connected systems. It does not automatically gain access to every system in your organisation.
